About Me

Hi there! I have always had a hard time describing myself. In some ways, the first day of a class at school was always the hardest, all those "about me" pages. Who am I? Well, I think I am still discovering the answer. Not only that, I think the answer changes from day to day. Some days I feel like an athlete-a runner, a swimmer, a skier (I've skied once in my life, guys, but I still feel like one sometimes!). Some days I feel like a health nut-eating a strict diet and choosing carrots as a snack, but other days I am a sugar addict, eating pie and cookies for breakfast, with a tall glass of juice to wash it all down. Some days I feel like a queen bee-a beautiful peacock of a one. Someone who has all the right "stuff" in all the right places and is in command of all. Some days I feel like a nothing-a mere shadow flitting across the wall, was I even noticed at all? I am everything, and I am nothing. I am an athlete, but not by any means of a standard, rather simply because I do swim, and run, and ski (okay, only once). I am a hippie, not by any definition, but simply because I try to love everyone in my own way. I am a free-spirit, not because I have the confidence to pull it off every day, but because when it's important to me I can create the music of my own drum. Anyways, I think you get the point.

Here are a few things that seem constants: I am a wife. I am a mother. My ancestors are from Finland, but more directly from Canada and America. I am American. I am mid-western. I am a lover of water and sunshine, but also of snow and misty days. I am a lover of books. I am a lover of joy because it brings me joy. I am a lover of children. I am a lover of quiet moments. I am a lover of a fire on a snow-filled winters night or a star-filled summers one. I am a lover of beauty. I delight in beauty. I have a forgiving soul and seek to understand. I am real. I can be a hater, a meanie, a jerk, an unkind and uncaring person (whatever word you like to use)-intentional or otherwise. But I try, and I work at it, and I hope you discover the good in me.
